TEXTILE CONVEYOR BELT SPLICE CONFIGURATIONS

Textile conveyor belts are spliced by vulcanization, by glueing or by means of mechanical fasteners.
In many regions of the world, mechanical fasteners are the first choice because it is a cheap and fast way of connecting two belt ends.
Nevertheless, mechanical fasteners do not achieve the static and dynamic splice strengths of vulcanized joints.

START-UP

Before start-up, the conveyor should be inspected for construction materials, tools or structural components which could gouge or cut the belt as it begins to move.

The belt should be run empty and slowly first and then speeded up to the normal operating velocity.
A new conveyor belt may need a couple of weeks to run absolutely smoothly on the conveyor structure - like a pair of new leather shoes.

In case of mistracking or other problems kindly refer to the first aid page.

The straightness of a splice can be checked by this method.
