MONITORING

Basically there are two areas for conveyor belt monitoring :

  • Monitoring of belt movement, i.e. tracking, slippage and tension, and
  • Monitoring of belt health, i.e. injuries, corrosion, splice failure and slitting.

The monitoring method to be used is depending on what is to be detected.

So far there is no completely convincing method on the market; they all have cons and pros.

Required is an automatic, wear- and maintenance-free system.

OPTO ELECTRONIC DEFECT DETECTION (Belt Health Monitoring)
Phoenoguard

A wear and maintenance free camera continuously monitors the belt surface and sends the digital signals through an interface to a computer.

A filter software selects the failures, mistracking etc. and signals dangerous situations or even stops the conveyor.

Opto-electronic systems are also used for measuring the profile of the conveyed material resp. its mass flow.
